How can I play Connect 4 online & local 1v1 for free?
You can play iPuissance 4D right in your browser for free without registration — supporting 1v1 local same-screen play, online multiplayer, global rankings, and 6 rule variants.
Can I play offline without an internet connection?
Yes! You can play offline against the AI or with a friend locally on the same computer by downloading the standalone game client for Windows or Linux.
Can I play without installing anything?
Yes, iPuissance 4D can be played directly inside your web browser without downloading or installing anything.
Do I need to create an account to play online?
No, you can play online as a Guest without an account. Creating a free account allows your victories to be recorded in the global ranking.
Does playing against bots or guests count toward the high score?
No. Only online matches played between registered (logged-in) users count toward the high score ranking. Games played against the computer (AI/bots), local games, and matches involving a guest player do not alter your Glicko rating.
My score went down even though I didn't play.
If you haven't played for more than three months, your score decreases by 1% per day to keep inactive players from distorting the ranking.

Can you win Connect 4 every time?
Connect 4 is a mathematically solved game: Player 1 (yellow) can force a win in 41 moves or fewer, provided they place their first disc in the center column (Column 4) and play perfectly.
What is the best starting move in Connect 4?
Placing your first disc in the center column (Column 4) is mathematically optimal. The middle column participates in 69 possible 4-in-a-row lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal), far more than outer columns.
How do you set up a double threat (fork) in Connect 4?
A double threat occurs when you position your discs to create two winning 4-in-a-row opportunities simultaneously. Your opponent can only block one, leaving the other open for your win.
What is the odd and even hole rule in Connect 4?
Since grid columns contain an even number of slots (6), Player 1 generally controls threats on odd-numbered rows (1, 3, 5), while Player 2 controls threats on even-numbered rows (2, 4, 6).
Who is the best Connect 4 player in the world? Is there a championship?
While there is no single official world federation, competitive tournaments are held at board game festivals. On iPuissance 4D, the best players in the world compete in our online multiplayer mode. We use the Glicko rating system to evaluate player strength fairly. You can track your rank and check the top players on the global leaderboard.

The BOSS key
Press Esc twice to activate BOSS mode: the window minimizes, sound mutes, and the title bar changes to something innocent. To return to normal: click the game in the taskbar and press Esc.
What are the emoti-sounds?
Typing certain keywords in the in-game chat triggers a sound for both players, for example lol. The full list is intentionally secret — discover them as you play!
Can the AI difficulty be increased?
Possible in principle, but the AI's main purpose is to help you train. A very sharp AI could also be exploited to cheat.
Can I spectate a game?
Spectating is not currently available.
What about cheaters?
Obvious cheats can be reported via the contact page with the suspect's nickname and the date of the incident.
